The Story of Bella: Transforming lives through hair....

We hear about great causes in the name of charity and supporting others on a regular basis, but few stories are as inspiring as that of the work of Bella.

As many of the local community are already aware, Bella, an 8 year old from Devon, has been raising money for Save the Children. The aim of this campaign is to help the children of Syria as part of the Syrian crisis appeal.

This campaign will support children in an attempt to provide enough to eat and somewhere safe to shelter by distributing food, shelter materials and cash for fuel.

It will also create Child Friendly Spaces, where children, like seven-year-old Ibrahim, below, can be protected, receive psychosocial support and continue learning.

Bella has decided to cut her precious head of hair and donate it to the Princess Trust, who will reuse this to make wigs for less fortunate children. Her sacrifice is therefore not benefiting only one, but two charities.

The experience was made even more special as her father was able to video conference her in the salon, to share the moment as he was unable to be with her in person. Bella was joined in the salon by her mother Sarah.

No.10 and Claire Westlake wanted to show their support and completed the hair cut as a donation to the worthwhile cause.

Bella has a Just Giving page and is attempting to raise £800 for Save the Children. She only has £70 to go (as of 4.9.2018).
