For those of you who are not aware, Salon International is the UK's largest hairdressing event, with over 400 brands and companies from across the globe coming to the London Excel Centre, once a year to educate and inspire. This years event was between Saturday 13th October 2018 and Monday 15th October 2018.
The team travelled to London on Saturday and stayed in London until Monday afternoon. From their perspective, Salon international was great fun, it gave the team the opportunity to see their hairdressing heroes which included Guy Tang, Patrick Cameron, Trevor Sorbie, Sophia Hilton and a more local talent, James Beaumont - who won the Wahl British barber of the year.
Whilst at the event, the team witnessed the latest product launches and were inspired by the trending presentations. They also managed to observe some outstanding colours, techniques that were used to achieve them and the makeup and costumes to compliment the over all look. It also gave them a glimpse of the latest innovation across our market in the past 12 months. The team had the opportunity to visit different stands and choose what each individual wanted to achieve out of the day.
Katy, No.10's apprentice took a shine to pastel colours, and found a colour stand where she could be adventurous and have some of these fun colours put through her hair. She chose a pastel pink and this was straightened into her hair, which will dissolve when she washes her hair next.
Claire, No.10's senior stylist was keen to keep her colouring techniques up to date and was on a mission to find a new pintail comb. She succeeded and found a specialist comb which sectioned hair into the perfect ‘weave’ section with no effort at all which will make her foiling and balayaging much easier and quicker! Claire was also on the look out for Patrick Cameron's hair up tutorial, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
Keira, No.10's senior stylist and make up artist was interested in finding an individual make up brand which would be exclusive to our No.10 Salon in Hatherleigh. Keira managed to find support by a range of experts who were kind enough to help us with this. Keep your eyes peeled on our website and facebook page for when we launch our new No.10 makeup.
Kristii, No.10's beauty technician, managed to explore the possible options for partnerships for our new branded makeup and explore the innovation in beauty products such as the stand offering cryogen treatments and technology. The treatments and technology can be used to remove wrinkles and dark spots. She also had an opportunity to view experts performing massage and eyelash extensions treatments with opportunity to compare her technique with that of other experts.
Gwen, the owner of No.10 was on the look out for hair extensions. We found many different styles of extensions from micro beads, weaves, tapes, pre bonded to Remi cachet. Each brand of hair extensions were placed in the hair differently which was very interesting when watching the ’10 easy minute’ tutorials. This is something we can’t wait to bring to our Salon in the future.
Claire's highlights from Salon International 2018 were;
- Watching Patrick Cameron live achieve 3 amazing and classic hair ups in just 30 minutes with his new ‘Heritage’ collection.
- Guy Tang!!!!
- Watching the Wahl British Barber of the Year competition, the talent was amazing. The team got to watch from start to finish on how each individual created their final look, this included blow-drying and styling.
- Learning tip top training techniques from the Sassoon Academy
During their time in London the team stayed at the Novotel in Brentford and on Sunday celebrated with a team dinner at The Ivy in Richmond, the perfect finish to a great couple of days.
We have attached a gallery of our favourite photos from the three days below.
